IELTS Test Dates in France: September 2026 Schedule

IELTS in France has 26 bookable Paris dates in September 2026 for Academic and General Training. See dates, times, fees, centres and booking checks.

IELTS on computer was bookable in Paris on 26 distinct dates in September 2026 when we checked the British Council registration portal on 28 August. Both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training appeared on 1 to 5, 7 to 12, 14 to 19, 21 to 26, and 28 to 30 September. In plain terms, the Paris calendar covered every Monday through Saturday and skipped the four Sundays.

This is live booking inventory, not a permanent national calendar. The search returned 40 Paris listings for Academic and 40 for General Training after all results were loaded, with some dates offering more than one time. Every visible card was IELTS on computer at EUR 307. A seat can disappear after someone books it, so use this page to plan and the official portal to reserve.

The date solves the administrative part. For the spoken component, start a free SpeakShark session and practise general English out loud while using IELTS's own material to learn the exam format.

Key takeaways

  • Paris showed 26 IELTS dates in September 2026 for both Academic and General Training.
  • The available dates were every Monday through Saturday; 6, 13, 20 and 27 September were the four unavailable Sundays.
  • Each full-month search returned 40 booking cards, because several dates had more than one session or centre.
  • The listed price was EUR 307 for Academic and General Training on computer.
  • France-wide availability varies by city. The Paris results do not prove the schedule in Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon or another centre.

September 2026 IELTS dates in Paris

The British Council booking portal marked these dates as available for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training on computer in Paris on 28 August 2026:

Week Bookable Paris dates Days not shown as available
1 to 6 September Tue 1, Wed 2, Thu 3, Fri 4, Sat 5 Sun 6
7 to 13 September Mon 7, Tue 8, Wed 9, Thu 10, Fri 11, Sat 12 Sun 13
14 to 20 September Mon 14, Tue 15, Wed 16, Thu 17, Fri 18, Sat 19 Sun 20
21 to 27 September Mon 21, Tue 22, Wed 23, Thu 24, Fri 25, Sat 26 Sun 27
28 to 30 September Mon 28, Tue 29, Wed 30 None within this partial week

The useful pattern is stronger than a list of 26 numbers: every non-Sunday date was represented. That gives candidates far more flexibility than the old paper calendar, which offered a small number of globally scheduled days. It also means an article that claims France has only three September IELTS dates is obsolete for the current computer-based market.

The dates above describe what the portal offered at the time of checking. They are not a guarantee that every session still has a seat when you read this. Start at the British Council IELTS registration portal, choose the test type, select a city and inspect the current results.

Our broader IELTS test dates and booking guide explains the global workflow. This page owns one narrower intent: September 2026 IELTS availability in France.

Academic and General Training availability

Academic and General Training produced the same 26-date Paris pattern in separate searches. They are still different tests and should not be chosen by convenience alone.

Test September Paris result Typical purpose Decision owner
IELTS Academic 40 listings across 26 dates University, professional registration and other academic routes The institution or regulator receiving the score
IELTS General Training 40 listings across 26 dates Migration, work and non-academic routes where specifically accepted The immigration authority, employer or receiving body

Do not infer that a receiver accepts either version just because the dates and price match. The receiving organisation decides the required test, score and delivery mode. For UK routes, ordinary Academic or General Training may also be the wrong product if the route requires a Secure English Language Test.

Use our IELTS UKVI, Academic and General Training comparison before booking a UK-linked application. The British Council Paris centre page listed Academic and General Training at EUR 307, Life Skills A1 and B1 at EUR 214, and UKVI Academic and General Training at EUR 329 when checked. A price difference is not the main distinction; approval for the intended route is.

Paris test times and centres

The full-month Academic search returned 40 cards across two Paris centre groups. The General Training search returned the same count after every result was loaded.

British Council Paris, at 9 Rue de Constantine, supplied most of the visible inventory. Listening, Reading and Writing sessions commonly began at 09:00 or 13:30. Some dates had both times. The booking cards described Speaking mainly as live with an examiner.

Les Ateliers FL Paris, at 9 rue de Saint-Petersbourg, added sessions on selected dates. Its visible Listening, Reading and Writing starts included 09:00, 13:30 and 17:15. Its cards described Speaking as a video call at the test centre.

One date can therefore produce more than one booking card because time, venue or Speaking arrangement differs. For example, 18, 19, 25 and 26 September had multiple visible sessions in the loaded results. Count dates for calendar planning, then compare individual cards for the appointment you will actually attend.

The portal listed EUR 307 on every Academic and General Training card inspected. The official British Council France dates, fees and locations page says its French network includes Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, Strasbourg and Toulouse. It also tells candidates to use the booking button for the complete live date list.

How Speaking is scheduled

Speaking was attached to the same date on every Paris booking card we inspected, but the exact time and delivery description varied. Each card displayed a default 20-minute slot and a control to change that default time if it did not suit the candidate.

Two labels appeared:

  • Live with examiner at many British Council Paris sessions.
  • Video call at the test centre at Les Ateliers FL Paris and a small number of other visible cards.

Both still require attendance at the test centre. A video-call label on a booking card does not mean IELTS Online or a home test. Read the address, reporting time and confirmation email carefully.

British Council France states that candidates taking IELTS at a centre can choose their Speaking slot. It also says Listening, Reading and Writing take place on the same day without a break between those three components. Our guide to the IELTS computer-delivered Speaking test explains why the speaking interaction remains distinct from typing the other sections.

If the live conversation is your bottleneck, first check your baseline with the free English speaking level test. Then practise general spoken English out loud rather than memorising scripts. Start a free SpeakShark conversation for daily speaking and pronunciation feedback, while using official IELTS material for the exam format.

IELTS dates outside Paris

France is not one timetable. British Council France lists nine centre cities, and the wider IELTS centre finder showed 15 France results when checked. A centre controls the dates, times and remaining seats it puts into the booking system.

The correct way to check another city is:

  1. Choose Academic, General Training or the required UKVI product first.
  2. Keep France selected and choose Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Paris East, Strasbourg or Toulouse in the British Council flow.
  3. Select a September date range.
  4. Load every result rather than reading only the first page of cards.
  5. Record the centre, Listening/Reading/Writing time, Speaking arrangement and price.
  6. Complete payment before treating the seat as yours.

Nantes appears on the British Council France information page but did not appear in the city menu we observed in the registration flow. That difference is precisely why a static article should not promise local inventory. A network page can name a city while the live booking system has no current seat for the selected product or period.

For format decisions, read computer-delivered IELTS versus paper and IELTS Online versus paper. Visa applicants must be especially careful because an at-home academic option is not automatically accepted for immigration.

What happened to the old paper dates

IELTS announced on 5 March 2026 that it would stop offering paper-based IELTS from mid-2026, with exact transition timing varying by market. Its current official France finder labels the listed French centres as computer based.

That change makes old global paper calendars a poor source for September 2026 France. A page still telling French candidates to choose among three fixed paper dates may be copying an earlier calendar without checking the live market. The current Paris portal showed 26 distinct dates, not three.

IELTS also introduced Writing on Paper in selected markets as an option within IELTS on computer. This does not revive the old paper test. Ask the French centre whether that component option is available before relying on it.

Computer results were described as arriving in 1 to 5 days inside the registration flow. IELTS's main site currently says computer results are usually available in 1 to 2 days, while local or individual cases can vary. Our IELTS computer result timing guide explains how to plan without treating a usual window as a guarantee.

How to book the right IELTS test

The booking sequence is short, but the order matters:

  1. Ask the receiving institution for the exact accepted test and minimum score.
  2. Open the official France registration flow.
  3. Select Academic, General Training or UKVI before selecting the city.
  4. Compare available dates and times.
  5. Check the Speaking mode and default slot.
  6. Confirm the ID requirement and ensure the booking name matches it.
  7. Pay and save the confirmation email.

British Council France tells candidates to bring a valid identity card or passport and a payment method. It says the confirmation email contains the start time, venue, Speaking date and time, and access to IELTS Ready Premium.

If you are considering a later retake strategy, read the current IELTS One Skill Retake cost guide. The official France finder marks many centres with One Skill Retake, but availability and acceptance still need to be checked for your centre and receiving body.

Work backwards from your result deadline

The latest available test date is not always the latest safe test date. Count backwards from the moment the receiver must have the score.

Use four dates:

Planning point Question to answer
Application deadline Must the score be uploaded, verified or merely taken by this date?
Score release What result window does the booked mode currently state?
Score delivery Does the receiver need an official electronic report after release?
Retake buffer Is there time to find another seat and receive a second result?

For a 30 September deadline, taking the test on 30 September is generally too late if a result must already be available. An earlier computer date leaves space for release and delivery. If the required score is far above your current level, moving the test date may be more realistic than compressing months of language growth into a week.

Use prepare for IELTS in one month for a realistic short timeline, daily IELTS practice routine for scheduling, and IELTS speaking practice at home or IELTS speaking practice alone when a partner is unavailable.

The IELTS September speaking forecast is a separate intent from this date page. It cannot replace official sample material, and reported themes cannot guarantee the questions on a particular Paris date.

How we researched this guide

On 28 August 2026, we used the official British Council registration application twice: once for IELTS Academic and once for IELTS General Training. For each test, we selected France, Paris and the complete range from 1 to 30 September, searched, loaded every result and counted the booking cards.

Each search returned 40 cards across 26 distinct Listening, Reading and Writing dates. We recorded the date pattern, centre names, start times, Speaking descriptions and listed EUR 307 price. We then checked the British Council France information page, the official IELTS France centre finder and IELTS's March 2026 delivery announcement.

We did not reuse the obsolete three-date paper schedule from older country articles. We did not assume Paris inventory applies to every French city, and we did not proceed far enough to reserve or consume a seat. Live availability can change after this snapshot.

We are a speaking improvement tool. We are not an exam preparation provider, and we are not affiliated with Cambridge English, the IELTS partners, Pearson or any exam board. For test format, booking and official practice material, go to the exam body directly. Use SpeakShark to make your spoken English stronger, and use official material to learn the test.
