Guardia Civil 2026 English Test Date and Score

Guardia Civil held its 2026 English entrance test on July 11. The paper had 20 scored multiple-choice questions plus one reserve question, and candidates needed at least 8/20 to remain in selection.

The final written result was published July 24. Candidates progressing now face psychophysical tests from September 2 through 26, with individual dates, places and times assigned in the official notice.

Guardia Civil 2026 selection calendar

The July 24 result is more than a pass list. It also contains the candidate's location, date and time for psychophysical testing.

The July 11 exam used 20 venues around Spain. Candidates in the peninsula and Balearic Islands reported at 7:30, while Canary Islands reporting was at 6:30.

The official page published both Type A and Type B questionnaires and corrected answer templates after identifying an unrelated general-knowledge answer-grid error.

English test pattern

If several choices appeared correct, candidates had to choose the most complete answer.

The reserve question was not an automatic twenty-first scored item. It applied only if the selection tribunal cancelled a main question.

The notice refers to Spain's Educación Secundaria Obligatoria content level rather than publishing a CEFR label for the entrance paper. It should not be converted into a guaranteed A2, B1 or B2 exam without another official mapping.

Eight out of twenty is eliminatory

English is separately scored and separately eliminatory.

An excellent general-knowledge or aptitude result cannot repair 7.9 in English.

Candidates also needed:

• Suitable spelling result.
• Suitable grammar result.
• At least 50/100 in general knowledge.
• At least 12/30 in intellectual aptitude.

The separate gates mean that total opposition points are calculated only after every required minimum is satisfied.

The result-review window for spelling, grammar, general knowledge, English and intellectual aptitude was three working days from publication under the call.

Negative marking formula

The scoring formula uses:

• A for correct answers.
• E for incorrect answers.
• N for answer alternatives.
• T for total questions.
• Y for the maximum test score.

For English, Y = 20, T = 20 and N = 4. This reduces to:

English score = correct answers minus (wrong answers / 3)

Blank questions have no penalty. One wrong answer costs one third of a point because every English item is worth one point on the 20-point scale.

Random attempts can pull a candidate below the separate eight-point minimum.

Where English sat in the July 11 testing day

The theoretical-practical block lasted 140 minutes without a break between its component tests.

It contained:

1. Spelling.
2. Grammar.
3. General knowledge, 100 questions plus five reserves.
4. English, 20 questions plus one reserve.

The intellectual-aptitude battery followed its own 55-minute structure with 80 questions, while personality profiling supported later suitability assessment.

The notice did not assign a separate English timer inside the 140-minute block. Candidates had to manage English alongside the other theoretical-practical components.

Only black-ink ballpoint pens were permitted for the paper tests.

For general written control, use English vocabulary and speaking skills, beginner speaking mistakes, and English speaking and writing skills. The published Type A and B questionnaires show the realised 2026 format.

English is a ranking and tie-break score

English is not only pass or fail. Its score enters the opposition total after the published formula.

The first tie-break order is:

1. Higher general-knowledge score.
2. Higher English score.
3. Higher intellectual-aptitude score.
4. Greater age.

This gives English a direct ranking role even after a candidate clears eight points.

Final selection points add the merit phase and opposition phase. The ranking then determines which suitable candidates are called to psychophysical testing.

The call limits psychophysical convocations to approximately 1.5 candidates per offered position. With 3,240 positions, that implies a planning ceiling near 4,860 candidates, while the official July 24 list remains controlling.

English certificates add merit points but do not waive the test

Eligible certificates can add merit-phase points.

Examples named in the call include official language schools, Cambridge, Trinity and IELTS under exact conditions.

For IELTS:

The score must satisfy every stated component, not only an overall average.

Certificate points do not waive the July English test. A candidate with C1 still needed at least 8/20 in the 20-question paper.

Only one recognised title per language is counted under the rule, and the call restricts acceptance to listed certificates and fully in-person testing conditions where specified.

September psychophysical stage

Candidates progressing from July testing attend from September 2 through 26.

The stage includes:

• Physical tests.
• Personal interview.
• Medical examination.

The physical exercises cover a 2,000-metre run, agility and coordination circuit, upper-body extensions and 50-metre swimming.

The personal interview evaluates suitability for professional demands. It is a separate suitable or not-suitable test supported by biographical and work-history information.

The call does not state that this interview contains another English conversation. The named English entrance test was the July 11 questionnaire.

Candidates must use the July 24 notice for their own September appointment. The September 2 to 26 window is not permission to choose any date.

Guardia Civil reported 26,806 candidates for the July 11 testing day, including 8,696 women. About one third held a university or vocational-education qualification.

The rough candidate-to-position ratio was about 8.3 to one before written elimination and psychophysical testing.

The call required Spanish nationality, specified age and education conditions, a clean legal-status route and physical suitability, among other requirements.
