C2 Proficiency Test Dates Germany: September 2026
Germany has three C2 Proficiency digital sessions in September 2026. Compare Berlin, Cologne and Munich dates, registration deadlines and result timing.
Germany lists three digital C2 Proficiency sessions in September 2026: Berlin on September 5, Cologne on September 12, and Munich on September 18. Their registration deadlines are August 31, August 29 and September 8.
No German paper C2 session appears in September because Cambridge's global 2026 paper calendar has no C2 date that month. The three local digital sessions are the only published September routes in the German open-dates table.
Key takeaways
- Germany has three C2 Proficiency dates: September 5, 12 and 18.

Germany C2 Proficiency September 2026 schedule
The official Cambridge page showed this schedule on August 28:
| Exam date | Version | City | Registration deadline | Centre |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| September 5 | Digital | Berlin | August 31 | GLS Sprachenzentrum Berlin |
| September 12 | Digital | Cologne | August 29 | Englisches Institut Koln |
| September 18 | Digital | Munich | September 8 | Cambridge Institut Munchen |
Each date belongs to a different city and authorised centre. There is no same-day fallback in another listed German city. Missing Cologne's August 29 deadline therefore means choosing Berlin, Munich or a later month rather than finding another September 12 centre in this table.
The schedule differs from C2 Proficiency in France, which has one Epernay session, and from C1 Advanced in Germany, which has nine listings across five dates.
Registration deadlines by urgency
| Deadline | Exam | Gap to exam | Days remaining on August 28 |
|---|---|---|---|
| August 29 | Cologne, September 12 | 14 days | 1 day |
| August 31 | Berlin, September 5 | 5 days | 3 days |
| September 8 | Munich, September 18 | 10 days | 11 days |
The exam order and deadline order are different. Berlin runs first, but Cologne registration closes first. A candidate comparing only exam dates can therefore lose the later session while assuming there is more time.
Contact the centre before the published cutoff. Cambridge's table does not guarantee capacity until the deadline and does not publish the fee.

Berlin, Cologne and Munich centres
The three centre names are:
- GLS Sprachenzentrum Berlin for September 5.
- Englisches Institut Koln for September 12.
- Cambridge Institut Munchen for September 18.
Cambridge's centre guidance says an authorised centre can administer an exam at another venue. Request the final address in writing rather than travelling to the organisation's main office by assumption.
Ask each centre for the fee, final venue, Speaking appointment, identity requirements and cancellation terms. Those details are absent from the public date table.
Candidates using C2 for a German degree should confirm acceptance with the programme. The best English-taught universities in Germany, masters in Germany in English, and bachelor degrees in Germany in English explain why admission evidence is programme specific.
Why all three sessions are digital
Cambridge's 2026 fixed paper calendar has C2 dates on March 7, May 16, June 6, June 12, November 26 and December 12. September is not included.
Digital sessions are organised according to centre demand and availability, so Berlin, Cologne and Munich can run September dates without a global paper session.
| Version | German September listings | Result timing | Certificate timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digital | 3 | 1 to 2 weeks | 3 to 4 weeks |
| Paper | 0 | 4 to 6 weeks | 7 to 9 weeks |
Digital means the written components use a computer at the centre. It is not a remote home exam, and Speaking remains a human test.
The C2 Proficiency three-part Speaking guide covers the interaction rather than the computer interface.
Ask for the Speaking date
The public table lists the main exam date but not Speaking. Cambridge says Speaking dates are subject to local provision.
Before booking travel, ask:
- Is Speaking on the main date or another day?
- What is the reporting time?
- Is the final venue the centre's listed address?
- When will the Confirmation of Entry arrive?
- Which original ID is required?
Our guides cover C2 Speaking Part 1, Part 2 collaborative task, and Part 3 long turn. The Cambridge two-examiner roles explains how marks are divided.

C2 score and certificate outcomes
| Scale score | Result | CEFR on certificate |
|---|---|---|
| 220 to 230 | Grade A | C2 |
| 213 to 219 | Grade B | C2 |
| 200 to 212 | Grade C | C2 |
| 180 to 199 | Level C1 | C1 |
| 162 to 179 | No grade | No certificate |
C2 Proficiency reports scores for Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of English. The overall score determines the grade and certificate level.
The Council of Europe CEFR descriptions define the level framework, while a German receiver decides its minimum score and component rules.
Use Cambridge speaking criteria by level, CEFR speaking levels, and B2 First versus C1 Advanced Speaking to choose the correct target before paying for C2.
Result timeline by exam date
Applying Cambridge's published digital window gives these planning ranges:
| Exam | Statement normally expected | Certificate normally expected |
|---|---|---|
| Berlin, September 5 | Mid-September | Late September to early October |
| Cologne, September 12 | Late September | Early to mid-October |
| Munich, September 18 | Late September to early October | Mid-October |
These are planning windows, not guaranteed release dates. The centre supplies candidate login details, and the receiving institution decides whether the online Statement of Results is enough.
Cambridge qualifications do not expire, but an institution can impose recency. See English certificate expiry compared.
Later German C2 Proficiency options
The open-dates page listed later digital sessions in Cologne, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich. Germany also had paper sessions on November 26 in Hanover and Cologne, plus December 12 in Essen, Marburg and Dortmund.
The first October options were:
- October 1 digital in Cologne, deadline September 17.
- October 16 digital in Berlin, deadline October 8.
- October 16 digital in Frankfurt, deadline October 9.
- October 17 digital in Stuttgart, deadline October 4.
Moving to October can be more realistic than forcing a September entry after the deadline. Use the free speaking-level check to estimate whether C2 is the correct target.

How we researched this guide
We checked Cambridge's official Germany and Austria open-dates page, global 2026 calendar, C2 digital guidance, candidate booklet and centre finder on August 28, 2026.
We counted only German C2 Proficiency entries in September. That produced three digital sessions, three cities and three deadlines. We separately verified that the global paper calendar has no September C2 date.
We did not invent fees, seats, venues or Speaking dates. No real questions or unofficial answers were copied.
We are a speaking improvement tool. We are not an exam preparation provider, and we are not affiliated with Cambridge English, the IELTS partners, Pearson or any exam board. For test format, booking and official practice material, go to the exam body directly. Use SpeakShark to make your spoken English stronger, and use official material to learn the test.

Results are official and verifiable online. A university or employer decides whether it can act on the Statement before receiving the certificate.
Scores from 200 to 230 receive a C2 certificate: Grade C covers 200 to 212, Grade B covers 213 to 219 and Grade A covers 220 to 230. Scores from 180 to 199 receive a C1 certificate. Scores from 162 to 179 receive no grade, CEFR level or certificate.
