IELTS Test Dates December 2026 Nigeria: Fee Guide

Verified Nigerian IDP pages showed December 5 and 19 for both standard computer IELTS and Life Skills examples. Those dates do not represent every centre in Nigeria. Large city pages can publish denser computer inventory, and British Council maintains a separate live booking system.

This guide records official pages checked on October 21, 2026. Seats, fees, promotions, and schedules can change.

Verified December 2026 date examples

The Lekki page displayed both Academic and General Training at both times, results in 1 to 5 days, and One Skill Retake availability. A visible seat remains bookable only while inventory lasts.

Key takeaways

• December 5 and 19 were verified standard dates at IDP Lekki.
• The same dates appeared for Life Skills at a separate IDP Nigeria page.
• Standard computer sessions displayed NGN 299,000.
• Life Skills displayed NGN 298,500 and tests different skills for specific visa routes.
• Nigeria no longer offers regular all-paper Academic or General Training IELTS.
• Checked computer sessions displayed results in 1 to 5 days and OSR.
• December 19 carries more holiday and deadline risk than December 5.

How to check the complete live calendar

Use the official booking routes, not a screenshot shared in a messaging group:

1. Open the IDP Nigeria date finder or British Council Nigeria date page.
2. Choose Academic, General Training, UKVI, or Life Skills.
3. Select the city and a specific centre.
4. Filter to December 2026.
5. Read the full date, time, format, fee, result, OSR, accessibility, and seat labels.
6. Continue far enough to confirm the payable amount.
7. Save the final venue and Speaking confirmation after payment.

IDP's finder listed cities including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Abeokuta, Akure, Asaba, Awka, Benin, Enugu, Ibadan, Ife, Ilorin, Kano, Makurdi, Owerri, Sango Ota, and Uyo. British Council listed an even broader network of testing points. Availability is not identical across them.

Provider and product fees

Official fee snapshots checked on October 21, 2026 included:

The providers displayed different prices. Compare the full offer rather than assuming one national fee. Check centre, product, included preparation, transfer policy, promotion, payment method, and final checkout total.

IDP displayed a promotional banner when checked, but a banner is not a guaranteed discount. Confirm the code, expiry, eligibility, and accepted checkout result before budgeting around it.

Computer IELTS versus Life Skills

Academic and General Training

Regular four-skill IELTS in Nigeria is delivered on computer. Listening, Reading, and Writing use the computer interface, while Speaking is conducted with a trained examiner at an official centre.

Life Skills A1 and B1

Life Skills tests Speaking and Listening for specific UK visa purposes. It is not a shorter substitute for Academic or General Training and cannot produce a four-skill band profile.

The checked Life Skills page labelled its sessions on paper. That does not contradict the end of regular paper IELTS because Life Skills is a different product.

Use IELTS UKVI versus Academic versus General and computer versus paper IELTS.

December 5 versus December 19

December 5

Choose the earlier date when:

• Your practice scores already reach the target range.
• The recipient deadline is in December or early January.
• You want room for checks, OSR, or another attempt.
• Holiday travel later in the month is uncertain.

December 19

Choose the later date when:

• Two more weeks can fix measured weaknesses.
• The receiving organisation accepts results well after the holiday period.
• Travel and accommodation remain reliable.
• A retake is not essential for the current deadline.

Do not use extra preparation time without a plan. Measure speaking, writing, reading, and listening weekly so the later date produces evidence rather than delay.

Choose a practical Nigerian centre

For Lagos, compare Lekki, Ikeja, Alausa, Victoria Island, and other listed venues using actual transport time. For an applicant outside Lagos, a regional centre may avoid flight or hotel cost.

Check:

• Weekday and Saturday traffic.
• Reporting time against first transport.
• Exact building and entrance.
• Parking or public transport.
• Accessibility.
• Speaking appointment location.
• Holiday opening and support hours.
• Backup route if travel fails.

The checked Lekki centre address was at Maple Canadian College on Bunmi-Olowude Street. Save the complete official address instead of navigating only to "Lekki."

Speaking schedule

The main session time does not necessarily settle the Speaking appointment. British Council says booking confirmation includes the Speaking date and time, and computer candidates may be able to choose a slot at a testing point.

Confirm:

• Same day or another day.
• Same building or another official location.
• Face-to-face or video call at the centre.
• Arrival time and accepted identification.
• Rules for changing or missing the appointment.

Read IELTS computer-delivered Speaking before your first full mock.

Results and One Skill Retake

The checked Lekki sessions displayed results in 1 to 5 days and One Skill Retake available. British Council Nigeria advertises 1 to 2 days for computer testing, but the wider window is safer.

Add time for:

• Necessary identity or quality checks.
• Electronic result access.
• Score transmission.
• Recipient matching.
• Holiday office closure.
• OSR or full-retake booking.

OSR does not solve every missed score. Confirm original-test eligibility, permitted timing, chosen skill, supporting centre, fee, and recipient acceptance.

Use IELTS result timing and IELTS retake cost guidance.

Build the deadline backward

Write six dates:

1. Final accepted-score date.
2. Recipient processing allowance.
3. Latest safe result date.
4. Latest safe first-test date.
5. OSR or full-retake window.
6. Selected December session.

A December 19 result may arrive quickly but still wait while an admissions or regulator office is closed. Use Academic versus General deadline guidance before relying on the final available date.

Booking checklist

• Legal name matches accepted identification.
• ID remains valid on test day.
• Correct module and visa product are selected.
• City, centre, date, and local time are correct.
• Computer IELTS or Life Skills distinction is understood.
• Speaking schedule is confirmed.
• Provider fee and promotion are verified at checkout.
• Accessibility is confirmed directly.
• Holiday travel has a backup.
• OSR and recipient acceptance are checked.
• Transfer and cancellation terms are read.
• Confirmation and receipt are saved.

Four-week speaking plan

Week 1: Diagnose with a full interview

Record Parts 1, 2, and 3. Mark long pauses, repeated vocabulary, grammar patterns, unclear pronunciation, and weak relevance.

Week 2: Build flexible detail

Practise direct Part 1 answers and two-minute Part 2 turns. Extend through experience, description, contrast, and reflection rather than memorised scripts.

Week 3: Strengthen Part 3

Use claim, reason, example, comparison, and limitation. Practise unexpected follow-ups and opposing views.

Week 4: Simulate and recover

Run complete human-style sessions, recover from misunderstood questions, and correct only recurring high-impact weaknesses. Protect travel and sleep.

Use the December Speaking forecast, home practice guide, practice-alone guide, and Band 7 mistakes.

Final readiness check

Reopen the selected centre page immediately before payment. Confirm the December date, module, product, time, fee, result label, OSR, travel, and Speaking plan. Run one final free Speaking session after confirmation so practice follows the real deadline.

FAQ

Verified IDP examples include December 5 and 19 for Academic and General Training at Lekki, plus the same dates for Life Skills A1 and B1 at a separate Nigeria centre page. Search the live provider calendar for every other centre.

Checked IDP sessions displayed NGN 299,000 for standard computer IELTS and NGN 298,500 for Life Skills; IDP's UKVI fee page showed NGN 315,500. British Council displayed different product prices, so verify the selected provider and final checkout.

No regular all-paper route is offered according to British Council's Nigeria update. Academic and General Training are computer-delivered. Life Skills may carry an on-paper label because it is a different Speaking and Listening test for specific UK visa purposes.

Checked IDP computer sessions displayed 1 to 5 days. Use the full range plus time for checks, access, score transmission, recipient processing, and holiday closure. The fastest advertised result is not a guarantee that an application is complete.

The checked Lekki sessions displayed OSR and the centre finder identifies supporting venues. Verify original-test eligibility, timing, selected skill, centre, fee, and recipient acceptance before treating OSR as the backup for a December score.

Choose December 5 for more deadline and retake buffer when your practice is ready. Choose December 19 only when two extra weeks have a measured benefit and holiday travel, recipient closure, Speaking scheduling, and the latest safe score date remain manageable.
