Choose format and test type

IELTS Academic

Usually required for university and some professional registration. The receiving institution decides.

IELTS General Training

Used for some migration, work, secondary, and vocational purposes. It cannot replace Academic where Academic is required.

IELTS for UKVI

Choose a date for the application, not only convenience

Work backward from the receiving organisation's deadline. Write down the last acceptable score-arrival date, the exact test type, required component bands, and how scores must be sent. Then add time for the official result window, recipient matching, holidays, document review, and one realistic recovery option.

A November 25 slot may suit a December personal target but be too late for a university that requires verified scores before the end of November. A November 7 slot creates more recovery time but only helps if your current mock evidence is close to the required band. Do not book the earliest available date simply from anxiety, and do not book the latest date using a best-case one-day result assumption.

If the target requires a high Speaking component, complete two full speaking simulations before payment. Compare fluency, lexical resource, grammar, and pronunciation patterns, then decide whether the date gives enough deliberate practice. Open another free Speaking session only after checking the official slot so preparation follows a real deadline rather than an imaginary calendar.
