September 2026 CAEL Online inventory

We queried the official CAEL date API for the Canada Online route and set the timezone to America/Toronto.

The total is 38 cards on 10 distinct dates. The cards were marked available during the audit, but this article intentionally does not publish remaining-seat numbers.

The official page says times are displayed in the device's local timezone. We passed America/Toronto to the date service so the table is useful for Ontario readers. A Vancouver candidate should confirm the time shown in their own account rather than applying Toronto time unchanged.

How the 38 sittings are distributed

The schedule follows a Friday-to-Sunday pattern:

Sunday has the widest time choice. Friday provides one daytime and one evening option. This pattern belongs to the September inventory and should not be treated as a permanent weekly timetable.

Registration closes either one business day before the sitting or when capacity is reached. The visible date can therefore disappear before its nominal deadline.

Use the questions before booking an English test to confirm the accepted score and submission date before choosing only by appointment convenience.

The one physical Canada sitting

The official Canada Test Centre query returned one September record:

No Toronto centre record appeared in the current query. That does not mean Toronto residents cannot take CAEL. They can choose the national Online route if they meet every technical and room requirement.

The distinction matters because a centre test and a home-proctored test create different logistics. A candidate who cannot supply a private room, compliant computer and second camera may prefer Burnaby or a later physical date.

Do not infer that Burnaby is Canada's only permanent CAEL centre. The finding describes public September inventory on August 28. The site can add or remove sittings.

CAEL price in Canada

Every one of the 38 Canada Online cards and the Burnaby centre card displayed CAD 299.

CAEL's fee notice states CAD 290 plus tax for Canadian tests from October 1, 2024 onward. The CAD 299 card total is consistent with that base after tax.

Transfer and cancellation requests must normally be received at least 48 hours before the session. CAEL lists a CAD 50 plus tax transfer fee and a 50% refund for an eligible cancellation.

The checkout remains authoritative. Promotions, taxes and policy changes can alter the final amount.

Result timing and score scale

CAEL publishes results eight business days after the test date. Weekends and holidays are excluded.

The result report contains:

• Listening score.
• Reading score.
• Writing score.
• Speaking score.
• Overall score.

Scores range from 10 to 90. The overall score is the equally weighted average of the four components, rounded to the nearest ten-point interval.

CAEL provides a downloadable PDF Official Score Report. Candidates should select the institution in their CAEL account for score verification.

Second-camera rule starts September 4

CAEL requires a second camera for Online tests scheduled on and after September 4, 2026. Every date in this article falls under the new requirement.

The main testing device must be:

• A desktop computer with an external webcam, or a laptop.
• Windows 8.1 or newer, or macOS 10.13 or newer.
• Connected at a minimum 2Mb/s download and 1Mb/s upload.
• Running the current Chrome browser and ProProctor application.
• Equipped with a webcam, microphone and speakers.

A phone, tablet or Chromebook cannot be the main testing computer. Bluetooth devices are not allowed. Virtual machines and remote-desktop connections cannot launch the test.

The separate camera is part of the security setup. Complete the current second-camera guide and mandatory account system check before test day rather than relying on an older CAEL checklist.

If the uploaded photo or ID is rejected and no acceptable replacement arrives 48 hours before testing, CAEL says it will cancel and refund the test.

CAEL Online format and breaks

CAEL Online takes approximately 3.5 hours of active testing and uses five integrated components. The official maximum including optional breaks is about four hours and six minutes.

There are three optional breaks of 12 minutes each. The test timer does not pause outside those break windows. Leaving the desk at another time can be flagged as a violation.

Room rules include:

1. Use a private, enclosed, well-lit room with the door closed.
2. Keep all third parties out for the entire test.
3. Remove paper, pens, extra devices and posted reference material.
4. Use only the on-screen ProProctor scratchpad for notes.
5. Keep only water in a transparent container at the desk.
6. Complete the desk, room and person security scans.

The readiness check can take up to 15 minutes. The proctor verifies the candidate, ID, room and workstation before testing.

Use the official CAEL finder:

1. Select Canada.
2. Choose Online or Test Centre.
3. Set the device timezone correctly.
4. Compare all cards for the preferred date.
5. Confirm CAD 299 and current availability.
6. Create or sign into the CAEL account.
7. Upload the accepted ID and photo.
8. Complete payment and retain the confirmation.
9. For Online, install ProProctor and configure the second camera.

The account uses the selected sitting code, date and country. Avoid opening a generic card and assuming it belongs to Canada merely because the displayed time looks convenient.
